6 days / 5 nights

Activities: hiking, caving.

Locations: Paklenica NP, Pag island,Kornati Islands NP, Ugljan island, Zadar.

Level: Moderate

- Day 1, Wednesday:

Arrival, transfer to our hotel or pension in Paklenica region.

Welcome drink, dinner.

- Day 2, Thursday: Pag island. 3 to 5 hours hiking, up 400m.

Our first host will be the island of Pag, it is mostly known for

its sheep cheese which gets its flavour from the thin grass,

aromatic herbs cover and sage.

Pag is unique due to its vegetation where trees are the most

rare form.

After a short visit of the town of Pag, we will head toward the

west for a hike that will get us on the highest point, "Sveti

Vid". It offers amazing landscapes: the indented coast, the

Velebit mountain, numerous islands, crystal blue sea and the

fascinating Pag rocky moonscape.

A short drive will then take us to the village of Metajna where

some will just want to lay on the beach and get some sun tan

while others would climb the hills to enjoy the views or go find

some hidden coves.

At the end of the day, we go back to our lodging in Paklenica

region.

- Day 3, Friday: Paklenica NP,6 to 7 hours hiking, up 800 m.

We head to Paklenica NP and enter it through its "main

entrance", the Velika Paklenica creek. It begins with a

fantastic rocky canyon and while going up along the torrent

we will see the vegetation changes. Progressively, the

Mediterranean one gives more space to pine and beech

forests.

It is also possible to chose a more strenuous hiking by

entering through the Mala Paklenica creek and joining Velika

Paklenica canyon.

- Day 4, Saturday: Kornati NP, 5 to 6 hours hiking, up 300 m.

We will embark for a "cruise" to the island of Kornat, the biggest

island of the archipelago. We will let the tourists go further with

the excursion boat when the captain will drop us on the bay of

Opat from where we'll start our hiking for 12 km toward the Vrulje

hamlet.

On our way through the rocky hills we might meet some sheep,

the only permanent inhabitants of the islands, enjoying beautiful

views on dozens of surrounding islands.

We will discover some unexpected valleys hiding olive groves.

In Vrulje, we will meet the boat and its crew and have lunch

together and join them for the rest of the boat trip.

- Day 5, Sunday: Ugljan island, 5 to 6 hours hiking, up 400 m.

This is the closest island to Zadar also called the green island,

covered with dense bushes, pine trees, olive groves, wineyards

and other Mediterranean vegetation.

Walking on the trails of the island, we will enjoy unforgatable

panoramas on Zadar archipelago, the velebit mountain and the

city of Zadar. Of course we will not miss the opportunity to swim

in the always inviting Adriatic blue sea.

- Day 6, Monday: Zadar

After breakfast and before going to the millennial city of

Zadar, we will stop for a "cave adventure" in the 830 meters

long Modric cave:

Our speleo guide will lead us through secret labyrinths and

narrow passages to spectacular halls where strange host

await us: pipe organs, cuttlefishes, crabs, fairies...

The list of surprises nature and imagination can provide under

the light of carbide lamps is practically unlimited.

After those fascinating 2 hours we'll continue towards Zadar

where we will have lunch. In the afternoon, you will be free to

visit the old town or simply go to the beach. At the end of the

day, transfer to the airport for those who are leaving.
